The collection “THe uNbeArabLe tOGEthErneSS In my SOLiTUdE” is an abstraction of the inner world of a loner – a wholesome, infinite, chaotic, impulsive, and irreverent world.
The Solo Exhibition was inaugurated by Pravin Salunke, IPS, Honorable IGP, Maharashtra. Salunke, a brilliant and celebrated officer of the Indian Police service, is also an art enthusiast. He inaugurated the exhibition by drawing a line sketch of Lord Ganesha, who symbolizes wisdom and balance. He then lit the lamp before opening the exhibition to patrons.
The arts in this collection are stories from an abundant solitude – tales of people, places, beings, events, situations that trickled in through my solitude & merged into the canvas of my experience. Stories that mostly come in stealth, sometimes they crash in, form unhackneyed patterns, and initiate unpredictable events.
Through this work, I share my unique fears, love, lust, rage, wonder, curiosity, jealousy, compassion, longing, and joy. People who come to see my work may or may not feel with the sameness, but whatever they do, it shall be their unique experience. Through this collection, I open my work and my inner world to a new and charming world of “togetherness”.
Organic Medley by Nuzhat Anwar
To create a multidimensional visual experience to the above concept, writer-poet Nuzhat Anwar, displayed a lyrical organic medley. She uses wood, leaves, flowers and other materials she forages and collects on her excursions.
Trained in the Sōgetsu-Ryu school of Ikebana, Nuzhat beautifully combines elements of Ikebana with freestyle design. Her intriguing organic installations brought a feel of freshness and comfort to the environment of the exhibition.
Media Coverage by Advocate Vaishali Jambhekar
All the media coverage and publicity for this exhibition was organized by Advocate Vaishali Jambhekar. Despite being very busy with her corporate job and family in Pennsylvania, USA, she collaborated with media in Pune, pushed me to talk to people, and ensured that the exhibition got its due.
Thanks Vaishoba, for having a vision for my exhibition, that even I did not have!
Gratitude,
This was my first solo exhibition. Many things went wrong, but most went just perfect, and it took the kindness and love of many friends to make that happen.
Pravin Salunke, IPS, Honorable IGP, Maharashtra, for accepting to inaugurate the exhibition and waiting patiently, despite a 45-min delay in starting the program. Sincere apologies, and thank you, sir.
Sincere apologies to his driver, we forgot to invite him in for lunch. If I could turn back the clock . . .
Nuzhat Anwar for keeping me mehfooz at Mehfooz, during the exhibition, for listening to the end of the day rants for all seven days, and generally maintaining the sanity quotient.
Hakuna Matata and Totto Chaan for being the tolerant dogs, they generally are not, and putting up with the animal boarding during the exhibition. Let’s face it, to feel love through being locked in a cage is only a human virtue, animals are not that evolved.
I totally deserved to clean up the ticks and fleas infestation that followed.
To Billooz and Aloha for putting up with the congested living space at the animal boarding. My head hangs in guilt and my heart leaps out in pain, every time I think of it. It was a terrible decision without foresight, and for those seven days, I did not deserve them. Never Again!
Raju Sonwal, for the fabulous support in setting and winding up the exhibition. It was a lot of work, and he was truly precious. Thanks to Nuzhat for bringing him in.
And finally, Umesh Chauhan, he came like a breeze of fresh air, hand held me through the entire inauguration and disappeared! I was, and am still, speechless.
